To Describe the essence of the music of EXTREME is to describe the
music of texture, weaving the evocative and the innovative with the
dynamic, sonic and experimental.  Nuances colored by lush,
atmospheric soundscapes;  music that speaks to the senses.
 
ASSEMBLAGE commences with the brooding atmospherics and hypertimbral
cyber-jazz of PAUL SCHUTZE and is followed by MO BOMA, with ambient
jungles of world music combining form and harmony.  SHINJUKU THIEF
offer tribal funk and industrial soundscapes whilst VIDNA OBMANA
leads us into ethereal atmospherics and distant electronic vistas.
JORGE REYES brings the voices of the Mexican Indians into our lives
with enveloping ethno-ambience and trance-like percussion.  PETER
APPLETON creates new sounds from self-mad e environmental
instruments, a folk scientist creating music between that of Brian
Eno and Harry Partch, quite different from the surreal film noir
soundscape of  C-SCHULZ.  STEFAN TISCHLER demonstrates the
provocateurs' vision of an American society -- "a culture of
congestion" -- on the brink of urban and political decay.  The
swirling percussion of MUSLIMGAUZE, takes us across distant lands
with a vision of the Middle East, and LIGHTS IN A FAT CITY capture
ethnic influences in a world, and a dimension, o f their own.
