This is a serious record. The german word schnittstelle both means interface as well as signifies the point where something was cut. Both meanings perfectly explain and describe this album. The esthetic of schnittstelle entirely results from using and abusing digital music production tools, such as samplers, digital mixers and harddisk recorders (interfaces). The digital cutting was an integral part of the production of this album. Atom Heart's new creation merges mellow binary ambient loops, rhythmic elements with almost jazzy tunes into a unique hi-tech beauty. Most of the songs are permanently developing and growing without repeating an element for a single time. This process gives this album a very organic feeling, or, how atom heart would say, *digital organics*. Compared to the previous R.I. Releases, schnittstelle lacks any kind of humour, is even as cold and aseptic as can be yet not less exiting. ...Scientific freestlye...
