About Tresor Records

Founded as an outgrowth of the thriving Berlin club Tresor in 1991, Tresor Records has gone on to become (along with Basic Channel) one of the most unique fusions of European and American techno sensibilities. Especially strong is Tresor's connection with Detroit: a diverse selection of Detroit's techno artists, such as Juan Atkins, Eddie "Flashin'" Fowlkes, Blake Baxter, Jeff Mills, and Rob Hood have either collaborated with other German artists on Tresor put out releases of their own through Tresor.

Although much of Tresor's catalog consists of releases that were originally licensed from Detroit labels, the Tresor versions often are greatly expanded or have exclusive remixes. Jeff Mills' X series, in particular, have seen greatly expanded releases on Tresor. Ironically, many Tresor's Detroit releases have been licensed for US distribution by PowWow Trance, thus bringing them, in a roundabout way, back to American listeners.

About This Discography

This discography is finally getting into decent shape. It wouldn't be that way if it weren't for the many useful contributions by Harald Schmitz , who has sent me huge chunks of release information, as well as almost all of the neat pictures you see in the discography itself. Without his work, the discography would still be where it was several months ago. He's a cool cat and he has my heartfelt thanks for actually making this look like a real document instead of a pathetic shadow of one.

I would also like to acknowledge the many useful contributions that George Smiley made. George is a champ.

The most recent version of the discography will always be at my web site, so check there before mailing me additions.

My priorities for the next version are filling in the many gaps in this discography and getting more track times and BPMs. I've got all the Novamute stuff, so nobody bother with the BPMs and stuff for those releases.
