Only $18 (with flyer). Wanna come? ____________________________________________________ Khaki Room Noahphex (Horizon Productions / Texas Hardcorps / Afterglow Records - Austin, TX) Due to bad weather conditions, this nationally renowned artist formerly known as Muppetfucker was unable to attend Mary Xmas last December. Now, for the first time ever in Pittsburgh, Noahphex will be spinning one of the most incredible happy hardcore sets you've ever heard. Rooted deeply in the early hardcore sounds of the UK as well as highly influenced by the evolution of jungle up through 1996, that full force bravado of mashed up breakbeats, stomping bouncy 4/4s and the rush of the music is the flavor of a Noahphex set. He has not only released innumerable mix CDs to rave reviews, but also promotes and publishes his own dubplates under his Afterglow Records label. Noahphex is also one of the happy hardcore editors for the internationally distributed Massive Magazine. You do not want to miss this set for any reason! Skinner (Black Monolith Records / Urban Assault - Newark, NJ) A multitalented artist, established DJ, producer and businessman, Skinner manages to bring out the schizophrenic in us all. Aroused by dark, hard, and ever evolving dance music, he brings an unsurpassed level of intensity to his sets. Originally a punk rocker, Skinner was drawn to the sounds of Electro in 1986, but it was the intensity of the rave and industrial cultures that led Skinner to fuse his own sounds out of these genres. Skinner has several releases on Emulsion, Dark Communications, and Oblivion, and also runs his own record company, Black Monolith. He is committed to "keeping shit fucked up" with his original and entertaining styles. Please welcome this hardcore innovator back to Pittsburgh for the first time in over three years. 7up (5-Star / SuperDank / The Digital Funk Soul Project / Lava Lounge, 1814 resident - Pittsburgh) Throughout the past nine years DJ 7up has pleased a vast array of people, with his audiences ranging from weekly residencies at major cities such as Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Columbus, and New York, while simultaneously building a reputation within our party scene. Bringin' you his style of 2 Step, Funky House and Hard House once again! You won't want to miss this.... The Business (SteelCitySoulCartel / www.steelcitysoul.com - Pittsburgh) Emerging from the underworld, Pittsburgh's dons of 2-step and Breakbeat Garage have the selection and skill to hit you in the chest like a blast from a sawed-off shotgun. They'll drop basslines that will blow shit up like a car bomb, and beats that will rain down on your head like shots fired from a Gatling gun. When they're finished, you can kneel and kiss their rings. B.Dee (R&D Productions / L.V.T. / House of Styles - Pittsburgh) Known more for his tight stylish mixing of progressive house/trance, B.Dee will be changing things up a bit this evening. If you attended "Exposure," "Ultimate" or "Proper" then you know what to expect... an uplifting, emotionally charged set of breakbeat mayhem that will bring the party to a euphoric end. Don't expect this to be your typical end of the night set... this is something special, something a little different. Don't miss it. :) rw (Phitt / Nu-Form - Pittsburgh) This space is normally reserved for accomplishments. You know, why this guy is playing and deserves to be here. He's done some things, thrown a party or two, but maybe you should decide on the music for yourself. rw can play a damn good set of music -- you'll hear house, techno, electro. Also, requests for hip-hop tracks and 80s anthems are welcome. :) Brad Anderson (Pursuit of Happiness / WRCT / RPM Records - Pittsburgh) While our crowds may think of him as a familiar DJ at Pursuit of Happiness events, our own Brad Anderson is bringing something very different tonight, performing a special set of progressive breaks that will leave you stunned beyond belief. Brad is well-known for his weekly radio show on WRCT-FM (88.3 Pittsburgh), and if you've ever been lucky enough to catch him spinning breaks on the air you'll know what kind of a special treat you are in for. Singe (Pursuit of Happiness / IntelliBass Sounds - Pittsburgh) Filling in for Muppetfucker at Mary Xmas, Singe, together with his friend AC Slater, tore the stage up and got the crowd so worked up that the preceding headliner couldn't even believe it. Chris is one of our own Pursuit of Happiness DJs, and together with Dean he runs our sister crew Happiness Associates. One of Pittsburgh's masters of breakbeat happy hardcore, Singe will open the party with a set that will leave you sweaty and smiling. Camo Room Hive (Phunckateck / Moving Shadow / Vortex - Los Angeles, CA) Between founding two record labels, composing original tracks and constant touring, the L.A.-based DJ Hive has emerged as a major figure in the undergrund music muovement. His skills on the Technics are legendary, while his production skills are equally venerable. His live performances have left audiences bewildered from coast to coast, rocking established venues like the Getty Center and South By Southwest to the CMJ Music Marathon and the WHFS Summer Festival along with many a rave, including the likes of Narnia (So. Cal), the Focus Festival (Phoenix-AZ), and the Juggernaut Festival (SF). Hive is also a resident of "Konkrete Jungle Los Angeles," named the "best dance club in L.A." by Rolling Stone and considered by many to be the premiere drum-and-bass venue in Los Angeles, and he is affiliated with the West Coast's world-renowned Phunckateck collective. Hive's latest release, The Raw Uncut is a six-track triple vinyl and eight-track cd release, showcasing Hive's constant evolution in drum-and-bass production, and is considered by many to be a landmark release for the stateside drum-and-bass movement. Alaska (412DnB / Bulletproof / Nu-Form - Pittsburgh) This hometown hero will lay down a set of hard and aggressive drum and bass, full of tunes with punch to them. He knows how to manipulate the Amen break and keep your attention all night long. MVP (412DnB / FaithInDnB Systems - Pittsburgh) Definitely a force to be reckoned with. After winning the "Atomic" Battle of the DJs, MVP has fast become a household name in the region. He has a well-earned reputation for his nearly flawless sets and tight scratching abilities, and we're excited to bring him out again. Depth / MC Nicka (FaithInDnB Systems - Pittsburgh) One of our town's brightest jungle talents along with Pittsburgh's own DnB MC. Together they make one hard-hitting action-packed team. If you missed these two at "Pulse," you don't want to miss this one. Kuggs (FaithInDnB Systems - Pittsburgh) Fast becoming a well-known name ion the junglist scene for his hard ass steppin' DnB, sure to be a treat! Destr0 (Revival.lm.com / Whitewood Apts. / Jesus's Posse - Pittsburgh) This guy dropped a Popeye record (bigup p. the s.m.) his last time out... the man, the myth, ...nah just kidding, it's Destr0. Nightcrawler (Revival.lm.com / Telerama Hit Squadron - Pittsburgh) This guy has been lurking towards the bottom of the underground scene for some time... Rise Nightcrawler rise. p.s. systems beware. ____________________________________________________ Khaki Room Timeslots: 9:00pm - 10:00pm :: Singe 10:00pm - 11:00pm :: Brad Anderson 11:00pm - 12:30am :: rw 12:30am - 2:00am :: The Business 2:00am - 3:30am :: Skinner 3:30am - 5:00am :: Noahphex 5:00am - 6:30am :: 7up 6:30am - 8:00am :: B.Dee Camo Room Timeslots: 9:00pm - 10:30pm :: Kuggs 10:30pm - 12:00pm :: Depth 12:00am - 1:30am :: MVP 1:30am - 3:30am :: Hive 3:30am - 5:00am :: Alaska 5:00am - 6:30am :: Destr0 6:30am - 8:00am :: Nightcrawler ____________________________________________________ This is a private party and you should bring a flyer with you as your invitation for $18 admission. Groovology is fortunate to have as guest dj this week: ROB VAUGHAN ! Rob has been deejaying in Dallas seemingly forever and has been a resident in nearly every club, including the legendary Aqua Lounge in the early 90's hardcore dayz. Among his many 12" releases, Rob recorded Dallas hardcore anthem "Trip or Freq", along with Josh Kay, under the name Global in 91 or 92 (gotta be 91) . Rob Vaughan and Josh Kay later recorded as Soul Odyssey and released the anthem "Rapture" in 1993 on local label Space Records. "Rapture" went on to sell over 5,000 copies in the U.S. and UK. (Josh Kay later moved to Florida and recorded under Soul Oddity with many releases on Astralwerks.) A couple of years later, Rob was also half of the original "Southside Reverb" lineup along with Kelly Reverb. Their "Here We Go" 12" sold over 5000 copies for ESP-Sun. Now, Rob Vaughan has caught the 2-step bug and will grace us with a wikid set this Sunday at Groovology ! Groovology - 2step garage Sundays by Valence Entertainment Home Bar 5627 Dyer St., Dallas 18 up, $5 cover residents: MUNDO & CHRISKO, back2back MC Pibb , MC Lifted peace.
