DJ Timestretch began listening to electronic music in the early 90's. Starting off with such classic artists as LFO and early Prodigy, he first discovered proper drum n bass in 94 when DJ Casper gave him a tape of a UK pirate radio station. He started buying records and together the two honed their mixing and selection skills as well as building their record collections and knowledge of the music. Timestretch's first real break came when Method One booked him to play at Selector in Richmond in May 95. The crowd was boiling as he dropped never before heard tunes as well as the current anthems, having just returned from a trip to his home land of England. More bookings around the country followed as his reputation grew. The next step was as a residency at Boston's Jungle Roots club, courtesy of an invite from Timestretch's long time friend DJ Overload. Playing every week with Overload and Jason Mouse, a duo already known for pushing drum n bass in Boston at the seminal "Loft" club helped Timestretch develop his mixing style and abilities even further. Jungle Roots later became Sessionz, a night renowned for its great crowd and atmosphere. Jungle Roots/Sessionz played host to almost all of the big names in drum n bass with guest appearances from Grooverider, Trace, Bukem, etc. etc. (the list is endless). Sadly, the night ended in 1998 although the forces involved continue to be prominent in the drum n bass scene. Through Sessionz, Timestretch also met DJ Static, another resident and owner of 4 Front Records in Boston.
