I must say I was happy with everyone's set. To start Satronica from things to come played a slamming "mega" mix as I like to joke... he played tones of my favorite TTC and PPC tracks. This started the night and people started to roll in. Not only did they get good music decent drinks, the the people who showed up early got some free pizza :). After Matt, Bombarider came on and tore shit up with some insane music, and ended his set with MINOR THREAT rock fucken on... After Jason played Edgey once again played some of the best darkstep coming out of the United States had all the breaks people bouncing up and down. Midnight rolls around and Fishead comes on. I wanted fishead to play one of the early Terminal Torture Parties years ago, but hings never worked out. I am SO glad he came, he tore shit up in his usual fasion, playing a mix of hardcore, brokenbeats, and other various hardcore and hard music... The Toper he throws down fucken Revolting Cocks!!!! :) Thank you Fishead once again for coming to jersey and play you made it well worth it. Lastly the man Miro Played. Not only one of the most chill people but he played one really tight Hard Techno set with a Mix of PCP hardcore towrds the end. Miro by his 3rd record had almost the entire place dancing around.. Now that was a great site to see. It actually got me smiling (rare thing for skinner to do), people were having fun, in the middle of North Jersey with top quality music, underground style! WITH BEER non the less (gotta love bars). Everyone I talked too... even my enimies seemed to have fun, so I guess I did a good job... I am burnt out... so time to take a break till the next terminal torture.. Whenver that will be.... So Stay tuned for that. Loft, Warehouse, Bar, Parkparty, they will appear with our without notice. I want to thank everyone that came out. You suppored a small underground event, and showed that we on the east coast can still have fun with good hard music.. Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou.. Soon we will have the pictures and the video on the black monolith site so stay tuned for that.. Lastly I want to think all the people who donatd to the Dead Street Fund for the Bloomfield Fire Dept, we raised 58$ total for them. so they thank you and the small donation is nice to give to people of NJ who have lost good men from 9/11. Keep it hard people.... I hope all of you who came out to the party had fun, and if you did I would like to hear from and see your reviews :) -- Robert Skinner http://robertskinner.com http://blackmonolith.com I got a six pack and nothing to do, I got a six pack and I don't need you! -blackflag From thoughtbludgeon@thoughtbludgeon.com Mon Apr 8 13:31:49 2002 Return-Path: Mailing-List: contact darkstep-help@hyperreal.org; run by ezmlm Delivered-To: mailing list darkstep@hyperreal.org Received: (qmail 65160 invoked from network); 8 Apr 2002 13:31:49 -0000 Received: from unknown (HELO molecularwire) (204.168.156.86) by taz3.hyperreal.org with SMTP; 8 Apr 2002 13:31:49 -0000 Received: from god [24.187.64.127] by molecularwire (SMTPD32-7.05) id AB2D18C01EE; Mon, 08 Apr 2002 09:29:17 -0400 Message-ID: <004901c1df01$b8f96d00$9865fea9@god> From: To: , Date: Mon, 8 Apr 2002 09:31:43 -0400 MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="----=_NextPart_000_0046_01C1DEE0.31B57260" X-Priority: 3 X-MSMail-Priority: Normal X-Mailer: Microsoft Outlook Express 6.00.2600.0000 X-MimeOLE: Produced By Microsoft MimeOLE V6.00.2600.0000 X-Spam-Rating: taz3.hyperreal.org 1.6.2 0/1000/N Subject: Terminal Torture / Weekend Review... ------=_NextPart_000_0046_01C1DEE0.31B57260 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable I posted all my shit up here: http://www.livejournal.com/~sinibyte { begin { Terminal Torture =3D=3D good shit } } --- http://www.mp3.com/edgey http://www.thoughtbludgeon.com 'intellect in rational movement tries to kill emotion, in doing so, only = kills itself.' Eye-D and Atomly collaborate on Metric for a hard-driven gabber-influenced floorfiller with more than just a hint of darkness. Be prepared to get hit with what the producers themselves call "ridiculous bass". DJ Hidden lays in with the far more experimental but eventually equally hard-hitting Thanatos. This is his follow-up to the solo release on Fear 001. The track is hard to categorize; with elements of IDM, electro, and drum & bass this one can find its way into a wide range of crates. What’s happening out there people?! Well, those of you who got down to the Bully in Oxford on Saturday April 6th will know that the BBL Sound crew smashed the place down with tearin’ Drum ‘n’ Bass Jungle Mixes from Mickey Finn alongside residents Nicky Blackmarket, John E Bravo and Tricky Nicky C. I played an opening DJ set [which seemed to have finished all too soon] dropping as many heavy choons on the wheels as possible before MC’s Sandman and Easty stepped up to the stage to introduce BBL Sounds head-honcho John E Bravo on the turntables. I hope that scratch-master Bravo doesn’t stress like I do about giving those spinback kinda rewinds cos them BBL massive were having none of those anthems get away, I tell ya. Not without some serious stomping business first at least. The two hours before the special guest session were rinsed dirty by the two Nickys - the Tricky and the Blackmarket. I was just a little worried that the bass might crack the roof at one point cos the rig was pumpin’ some grimy levels into the dancehall. The venue was rammed to full capacity surprisingly quickly for some, although I personally had no anxiety that the venue wouldn’t be crammed like a sardine tin with Drum ‘n’ Bass heads by the end! The Bullingdon bar staff were kept on their toes with their permanent happy hour sorta prices on refreshments and I was kept busy with the camcorder trying to catch some of guest MC Fatman D’s crowd-hyping activity. As per usual with club nights the end came all too soon and crowds of Jungle- hungry ravers were beggin’ Mickey Finn to come with just one last tune. I must say though I can’t blame management for having to obey strict licensing and cutting the power soon after 2am as there were nuff crowds of Ravers trying to get in, most probably drawing some attention from the ‘hate-to- mention’ in the urban jungle of Cowley Road, innit. Don’t forget to let all your peoples know that BBL Sound will be showcasing more of Oxfordshire’s underground Jungle Drum ‘n’ Bass Nu-Skool on Saturday May 4th 2002 again at the Bully with a line up including DJ’s like the one Mampi Swift, the funksta Tricky Nicky C, hard-steppers Jammin and Jonesy and the crowd pleezah geeezah John ‘E Bravo. You can expect highly-flammable lyrix from MC’s Sandman, Liebo and Easty with female MC Alys and for the first time in Oxford the world’s voted No.1 MC Skibadee back to back with Jungle Fever and Kool FM’s long-time MC Shabba D. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Until next time… Mikee Merge ‘n’ C @ Centrifugal Sound Big shouts to the BBL Sound family, Blackmarket Records, Urban Takeover Recordings, Nu - Breed Recordings, Mike and the Bullingdon Crew and all the jump-up lighter crew inside there! This results in some unique flavoring for both of the genres. Eye-D plays straight sets of each style, but he's also one of the few who will go so far as to mix the two styles up in what has become known as a "GabberJungleWar". Expect his drum 'n' bass sets to be hard-edged but still very effective on the dancefloor. Eye-D's hardcore sets range from slow to faster material, with a dark feel resounding throughout. An often heard compliment about Eye-D's sets is that they work well even when played to a crowd that normally isn't into either hardcore or drum 'n' bass. While spinning is a big part of his life, Eye-D is still mostly a producer at heart. Because of the diversity of his projects, spanning all spectra of drum 'n' bass and hardcore, Eye-D is signed to a wide variety of labels: Piruh Records (The Netherlands, drum 'n' bass); Ruff-Teck Records (The Netherlands, drum 'n' bass); Mokum Records (The Netherlands, hardcore); Def Wish Records (UK, drum 'n' bass); Coolman Records (The Netherlands, hardcore); Ghetto Safari (USA, hard-edged drum 'n' bass); Low Res Records (USA, hardcore); Semiconscious Media (USA, drum 'n' bass); Black Monolith Breaks (USA, drum 'n' bass), and Kultbox Records (USA, experimental drum 'n' bass).
