I would really like to get ahold of these CD singles.
Are any of them still in print? If so, where?

Far as I know, Contempo is gone. Don't know about Parade Amourese (?).
Fortunately the US reissues of _Matter_ and _Cloned_ add most of the tracks
contained on the CDS releases you list.

Actually, Contempo has renamed itself to fit with a new image. They are
called Audioglobe now, and they are still around, producing mainly Trance,
Progressive, & Ambient stuff.

Hm. You have the test-pressing/promo for this don't you Todd? Is it

Hi everyone,

Just joined the list. I've been enjoying Uwe's output since the early FAX
releases. My favorites at the moment are SILVER SOUND 60 and the Lisa
Carbon Trio CD on Rephlex. I think Uwe's one of the most musically
versatile electronic musicians around. But you already knew that, didn't
you?

My question is this: does anybody know what's happened with BROWN? Was it
released in Europe but not the US? If anybody out there has info or

I own this 12" which is why I said in the first place that Electronikkaa is
not another 12" but the other side to Electronique. The problem is that
the official release (which I have seen in black and clear orange vinyl)
does not have a track listing on it although when I bought my copy in
London, it was labeled "Electronikkaa/Electronique". I think the confusion
stems from Rising High having licensed it. Didn't they put one of the
tracks on Secret Life of Trance 2 and the other track on SLoT 3?

Paranoid by Victor Sol, RI023S CD. A Rather Interesting special edition.

I received this in the mail yesterday and have given it one close
listening. The CD is about 55 minutes long and divided into two tracks,
but it may as well be one -- it's really one, very extended techno track.
C.U.E. posted here that it's pretty heavy, but that's quite relative. I
think it is medium-weight, but then I'm into some godforsaken hellrock.
Imagine bowed sheet-metal, miked and feeding back through an effects chain,
and it's a helicopter versus a sandcastle...but I digress. (If you're
looking for something pounding and crunchy, keep an eye out for Jeff Mills'
AX009 on Axis--black label).

The piece keeps moving, sequences changing slowly, but I wanted to hear
either more changes or more details to examine along the way.
Nevertheless, it shakes the house down, as they say.

The track sounds like it may have been created on-the-fly from
preprogrammed material. I will have to listen more closely to figure out
how the sequences morph. This could have been done with an analog
sequencer. Victor Sol also might have programmed several MIDI sequences
and brought them in and out of the mix to make different "resultants".

I pay so little attention to titles, but there's a roughly 15-minute track
on +N, _Plane_, which almost -had- to have been created on-the-fly. You
can hear what sounds like a metronome tick from a drum machine, and the
rhythm program develops in a way that suggests someone was working on it
while the tape was rolling.

If anyone has more info, such as whether Sol uses CV/Gate or MIDI, or both,
I'd appreciate it.

Can't give a rating just yet. I can recommend the disc, though I have
certain reservations about the way the small amount of raw material is
stretched over a little less than an hour. The problem isn't the
concept... in fact it isn't much of a problem (and based on what I've been
up to the last couple years I can't throw stones). As an exercise in beat-
oriented extreme minimalism it works well (see also "Project 80" or _Three
Mantras_ by Cabaret Voltaire), but for listening at home I wanted more fine
details and shifts in details, to focus my attention. For example, in CV's
"Project 80", the spoken-word montage fills in the spaces and provides an
extra layer of detail.

as eylon pointed out, atom heart continues to release a steady flow, and
much of it of mindbogglingly high quality. although he reserves the harsher
edge to which you describe an attraction for his atomu shinzo/mike mccoy/
lassigue bendthaus and early pod atom heart material, anyone with a deep
love of electro will find much to connect with on any of his recent
releases on his own rather interesting label, including:

vsvn
semiacoustic nature
silver sound 60
bass
machine paisley
hat
mono trademark

all, with the exception of _vsvn_, are cd-only (a _hat_ 12-inch is,
apparently, to be released on harmuomi hosono's daisy world label, but i
haven't heard a release date yet). a nice introduction to his rather
interesting work exists (and on vinyl, too!) on _real intelligence_, a
compilation combining tracks from the first 10 or so ri releases, as well
as a few new goodies. as i said, it isn't really electro per se, but the
centrality of electro in much of atom heart's work (in combination, most
often, with ambient, jazz, and jungle) is evident to even the most casual
of observers. atom heart is also--and despite all the great music being
made even today that i wouldn't necessarily characterize this way--one of
the few true innovators in electro, pushing many of the style's accepted
compositional attributes into new, unexpected areas and combinations.

thanks,

Because the Germans aren't allowed to release anything over the summer
months. Blame the way the country works, not the artists or the labels.
Thanks to Charles Uzzell-Edwards (FAX USA), the FAX family are fortunate to
be able to release music in this country first over the summer break. If
you look at my FAX web pages, you'll see all the summer release dates for
USA vs. the rest of the world. Considering that until now, Europe has
always had the advantage of availability first, I think it's time we catch
up.

Absolutely not. This was a one time special limited thing. If you

The shops are Satellite, which has a copy in their "experimental section" along with several Cylob releases. The other shop "Wax N Facts" or is it Wax n' Fax ...which one i can't remember. But they had a copy filed under Carbon in the general vinyl section. The store is 90% vinyl and i mean a shitload of it. The music is generally catagorized in a Rock/alt section, electronic/soundtrack/urban... But the carbon is in the Rock/alt section for some strange reason. I tell you all this because they seem to like it when they donn't have to go searchin' through all that fuckin vinyl. Sorry no cd copies available. The interview was conducted by Sean Cooper <scooper@best.com>, with help from Steve Boyer <sboyer@violet.berkeley.edu> from what I gather. Easily the best track on the disc, "Inner Rotation" allows Atom Heart to slather on layers of dark, bleepy, bass heavy percussion while Namlook compliments the beats with his trademark dark and spooky melody. The music evolves and grows; an incredible piece of electronic work oozing with intelligent sequencing and slick production. Then enter "Calm Box," lengthy chillout session providing the listener with a chance to regain consciousness before the second bombardment of Atom Heart's trademark percussion in "Outer Rotation." This time the beats are harder, faster, quirkier and more spontaneous then before. In all, "Jet Chamber" is a well crafted piece of electronic music, and worthy of repeated listenings. Iain pooley & Thomas Garlech were once known as Space Cube and did some of the greatest breakbeat/acid masterpieces I ever heard (check out old "rauschen" compilations on force inc.) Nowdays Garlech is known as DJ Tonka and is doing not so brilliantly as ahouse producer on force u.s and on temple records, Iain pooley released an LP few months ago on Force Inc and IMHO his golden days are a thing of the past.
