I can understand your concerns though as no one really cares about that

buy a `burnt' CD-R version of it from you. ;}

What label would it end up being on anyway?

Grrrr.

There's a newish semi-local shop here where I live called Elf's Head
Records, which specializes in industrial. Anyway, I just picked up a copy
of their very first-ever mailorder catalogue and found that they had quite
a few AH/LB-related items in stock.

Here are the full-length cds:

> ALMOST DIGITAL ... A.D. ... cd ... Hypnotism ... $16.50
> THE BITNIKS ... Halograms ... cd ... Hypnotism ... $17.00
> LASSIGUE BENDTHAUS ... Cloned ... cd ... Metropolis ... $14
> LASSIGUE BENDTHAUS ... Matter ... cd ... Metropolis ... $14
> LASSIGUE BENDTHAUS ... Render ... cd ... Kk ... $18.25
> LASSIGUE BENDTHAUS ... Render Audible ... cd ... Kk ... $18.25

Here are the discs they have which feature LB remixes:

> ENDRAUM ... Appell An Die Muse ... cd ... EFA ... $11.25
> IT ... Era Vulgaris Ncoded ... cd ... Disturbance ... $18.25
> SIELWOLF ... Metastasen ... cd ... Kk ... $18.25
> SWAMP TERRORISTS ... Get O. ... 2xcd ... Sub/Mission ... $16.75

Here are the compilations of possible interest which feature tracks by
some AH/LB-related projects/aliases:

> V/A ... Eight Track Said ... cd ... Hypnotism ... $17.25
> V/A ... Kodex 4 ... cd ... Kodex ... $14.25
> V/A ... Technopolis 4 ... cd ... Zoth Ammog ... $18.25

Oh, and I can't remember which of these feature any LB tracks, so I
listed all the volumes in each release's series just in case:

> V/A ... Electrocity 2, 4, 6, & 9 ... cd ... Ausfahrt ... $18.75
> V/A ... We Came To Dance 2-9 ... cd ... Euro Media ... $18.25
> V/A ... We Came To Dance 10 ... 2xcd ... Euro Media ... $21.00

Well... I do know that there is an upcoming festival at Battery Park
in Cologne, Germany at the end of this month. The information was
originally posted here by Tom Tonger <tpt201@stern.nyu.edu>, during mid-

I suppose the compilation is a sampler (of the concert's line-up) of
some sort? I'd like to hear more about it as well.

Also in SR's catalogue for an August release is Bill Laswell's
_Oscillations remixed_, which is supposed to feature an AHeart mix.

Hello,
I've got Flextone (by Atom Heart) on vinyl, white labels. According to
Chris Miller this is limited to 23 copies. What I would like is Flextone
on cd (which is limited to 500 copies). I'd even be more than happy to
make this an even trade (despite the limiting differences) as I'd really
prefer it on cd. Anyone willing to partake in such a swap?
Thanks.

Yeah, but you didn't state how the 500 are distributed. 400 get sent as
promos to "big label people" (ie--their sent to janitors and used as
coasters). 30-40 are kept by Schmidt to give to friends and family. The
remaining 60 are actually sold to the public at large, thus keeping AHeart
discs on the "rarer-than-rare" list, and making people think that he is one
of the only artists around who can consistantly sell out of his records on
a monthly basis...! ;)

500 copies is pretty miniscual. I wonder if that is
an artistic choice, economic issue, or something

If promoted and marketed properly, I could see a record

Hello -

I am trying to locate the following releases:

1.0 VSVN [RI025]
1.1 Schnittstelle [RI046]
1.2 Shellglove [?] (Semaphone??)
1.3 Dots [RI024]
1.4 Semiacoustic Nature [RI029]
1.5 Masters of Psychedelic Ambience - MU [RI028]
1.6 AH - Orange [Fax PS08/36]
1.7 AH - Morphogenetic Fields [Rough Trade]
1.8 Coeur Atomique - C.A. (s/t?) [Fax PS08/27]
1.9 Ee Surreal - Ee Surreal (AH&Finkbeiner)[?] [POD]
10.0 Almost Digital - A.D. [?] [Hypnotism]
11.1 The Bitniks - Halograms [?] [Hypnotism]

Anyone know where I can get these?
Which of the aforementioned have been deleted/out of print?
I have a Q concerning AH - Milagro. Is it an ep or full-length? Assuming
ep, but I'd like confirmation. Is it any good?
Also, anyone know where I can procure 'Interactive Music' [RI027] for less
than $18?

Any help on these Q's would be very, very, very greatly appreciated. Sorry
I didn't post this to the AH list, but I just subbed tonight & it takes a
few days or so to kick in....

Long gone. Best bet is to post wantlists to the right places.

Might still be available. That's Rough Trade in Germany.

Never released far as anyone can tell.

Another tough mail-order thing. Try Synaptic. Last I heard they were
carrying the label.

EP. Similar to Morphogenetic Fields -- not surprising as it's the
associated EP.

It's out-of-print and $18 is certainly fair. The old RI is hard to find
as they are pressed in smaller numbers than FAX.

The single has on a sticker a sneaky Chilean street scene with what seems
to be a cameo a la Hitchcock.

Which reminds me, would other people agree with my postulating that the
title of the track(s) & ep "Apart" may have something to do with Uwe's
moving to Chile?

The tape has an url thus - http://www.geekgirl.com.au/cat/cat@log.html

which leads to a site with a number of intriguing products bar the live
tape. It does list the follwing contact details -

Community Access Teknowledgy

hype way" cat@lyst.apana.org.au, dial in modem 557 7043, POBox 13 Enmore
2042 or Black Rose Books 583a King St. Newtown, 2042. 519 9194

the tape also has a snail address thus -
cat@lyst tapes POBox 13 Enmore 2042

I still haven't gotten a reply to my mail though. I guess it's one of
those cases of "we stopped stocking it because we kept running out"

Maybe if enough people here hassle them they might do something, otherwise
I could always make people dubs or something but it may take me a while.

For each album released on the Rather Interesting label, there are
only 500 made. I'd like to know how many copies enter North America, how
many stay in Europe (assuming that they're still being pressed in germany),
and how many are allocated to distributors elsewhere in the world?

Ok.

So I was checking out the R.I. page last week and I noticed an entry
for something called "Schnittstelle". What is this? It's got the call-
numbers of `RI 046', but isn't that already reserved for "Pentatonic
Surprise"? Or are they one-in-the-same? A name change perhaps?

Yeah, I wish Uwe'd do something like this again. Maybe that's an idea
for his "Real Intelligence" series? Anyway, I dig the packaging for
"Polyester" by THE LISA CARBON TRIO (on RePhLeX)... on both the cd and
vinyl formats.

> So my question is, who are the 3 characters shown on the inside? Victor

Yeah... left to right are: Stocha (of Von Magnet), Uwe, and Victor
Sol. Pretty swanky-looking guys if you ask me - straight out of
_Playgirl_. Heh.

Niko [Heyduck] isn't one of the three pictured, although he is
featured on the album. I know he's done stuff with LASSIGUE BENDTHAUS (and
on their live shows), and has popped up here and there as a contributor on
several R.I. releases... but what's he done on his own?

Well there's Solphax, and that's all i know about. I like the
releases VS appears on. I think his contribution gives the
release a definite *sound* that i can only describe as
"experimental" in a very real sense of the word. It's a certain
rough quality imbedded in highly polished tracks. I've acquired
all the +N's, Solphax, Earcloud, Xjacks, and the Aerial Service
Area releases with Sol and i like his ideas. Very
"deconstructionist" electronica where the seperate elements do
their own wandering until they come together in a sequence with
frequent intentional mistimings. Sounds all jumbly the first few
times around (like that hard-grinder on Solphax, #3 or #4), but
after this initial stage, the listener's familiarity enhances
greatly the satisfaction of hearing his stuff.

Hola.

I just finished reading _2001: A Space Oddysey_ and _2010: Oddysey
Two_ [both] by Arthur C. Clarke, and then went out and rented the videos
for each of the movies. Even though I had read the novels, there was
something I didn't place until actually seeing (or rather *hearing*) the
first film adaptation...

...I am speaking about the song, "Daisy". When HAL 9000's logic
circuits are disconnected by Dave Bowman toward the end of _2001_, the
conflicted computer pleads: "I can feel my mind going...". At that point
he begins to sing a song which Dr. Chandra (his creator/programmer) had
taught him in his `infancy'. It was called "Daisy".

Upon hearing HAL sing the song (albeit with his `voice' distorting,
slower and slower), I recognized it immediately. I have the "Daisy World
Tour" label compilation, and there is a song on it by SWING SLOW called...
"Daisy Bicycle Built For Two". The melody is, well the same.

So there.

I am currently working on _2061: Oddysey Three_, but I am not counting
on any other [music/label-related] revelations. It's a damn good book so
far, and I sure do wish that Mr. Clarke would hurry up and finish up _3001_
so that I can read them in a continual sequence. I wonder what the
weather's like in Sri Lanka? ;}

Speaking of, has Uwe actually recorded anything new since his move to

Now just hold on a minute Ya'll. We don't even know if they
*have* the disc or not. Tons of CD places *list* an item that
they say they'll "order" for you, but nothin' ever happens.
For instance, i recently found Deltraxx, Limelight, and Hearts
of Space (all old-ass fax stuff) listed on one of those mega-
online CD places and they didn't have any of them, nor could
they get them (not that any of this surprised me).
So i'm waitin' until i hear of someone who actually receives the
disc in the mail... ;)
Also, i'll offer up the humble hypothesis that this will be one
of those discs that is impossible to find at first, and then a
whole bunch will show up months later for 14$. I remember the
Whole Traffic, AH's Live at sel i/s/c (woowoo), and Solitaire
being auctioned for 25-30+ US$ at one time and a coupla months
later here we have them all available mail-order and sealed for
15$.

It's "Humbucker", and no it's not our ATOM HEART. I think it was
clarified here earlier on that this record is some trancey-remix of PINK
FLOYD song(s)? Don't even lose any sleep over this one.

Okay, there, here are two CDs I've got for TRADE ONLY:

Lassigue Bendthaus "Matter" (KK, Belgium) perfect shape
Lassigue Bendthaus "Cloned" (Metropolis, US) light scratches, plays fine

I will cheerfully trade these for NOISE-type stuff. What do I mean by
that?: anything on Trente Oiseaux, Alchemy, RRR, Staalplaat, V2, Dragnet,
My Fiance's Lifework, Vanilla. Bands like Merzbow, John Duncan, Francisco
Lopez, Incapacitants, Violent Onsen Geisha, Rapoon. Stuff like that. Okay!!

None of that sort of thing happens in the UK, ever. We're all 100 per cent
trustworthy us.

And as for your humble hypothesis that Instant Replay will soon start
turning up all over the place, that'd be great. But the strangest thing is
that we were all waiting for this CD to be *released* for about a year
(weren't we?), and meanwhile some lucky bast had it all along?! I've never
heard of that happening before, have you? Excellent marketing, I have to
say.

Erm, has anybody got Electroharmonix 2, then??

ob uwe: I know I'm a bit late on the number-of-copies-of-RIs issue, but I
was wondering, are there more than 500 copies of Brown? I seem to remember
that supplies to the USA were held up for ages (you poor possums) at
customs and were then declared to be lost. Or something? And then more
were pressed up?...

No doubt. It's all uh big ploy...all this limited quantity
stuff... ;]
But really, i agree, and i'd like to know where all of these
Replays are sitting right now.

Yeah, the funny that was goin' 'round was that the customs people
confisticated them and enjoyed them...along with the countless
pounds of herbiage they steal. More were pressed up, i believe,
but SOME luckys got copies of the first ones... i wonder if
there's anything that distinguishes the two editions...

I spoke with Tetsu a couple of days ago and he now has the final "Instant
Replay" CD which I am assuming means that it should be officially out and
available at all good stores. I have to stop by Tetsu's and pick up my
copy before I can give any official details, review, etc.

Somebody mentioned "Electroharmonix 2" but "Instant Replay" is that same
album, although with the new name. I asked Tetsu about that and I think
originally it was meant to be a followup album on FAX but since it ended up
on EMI instead, they chose a new name.

As for Brown, I was lucky enough to get one of the original releases that
didn't get held up customs. Apparently the reason it was held up was
because the original CD had no writing on the outside of it - only that
brown color. The spine is as normal on mine so perhaps they didn't see
that or the information was too minimal for their liking. I believe a new
batch was made up for the US which is supposed to have a sticker or some
more writing which identifies it better. Charlie probably has more
specific information on this.

thanks

Unfortunately I hadn't discovered this list at the time, seems like I
missed a chopper of an opportunity to gloat at you all. I had a copy of
Brown before you lot out west even knew what colour it was! Anyway, I've
since had a copy via the US and it was woefully identical.

well. there are 2 types of brown cd :

the first ones were 'lost' by customs after they were stopped because they
didnt have 'made in Germany' on them. In reality they went to the us
customs chill room along with the bean bags and incense that routinely goes
'missing' every time somebody tries to import them into the country. The
same thing happens to turkish rugs and hookah pipes and hashish : makes you
wonder eh...

they both dont have 'made in germany' on them though...
why didnt we comply with the law and make the required changes when we
repressed? Because we are just rebels and we dont care about the man...

Buh.

I was just browsing through EAR/Rational <ear@mail.xmission.com>'s
`SALE' catalogue and came upon these three items which I though someone
here might be interested in:

> Superficial Depth - Digital Superimposing (used) $9
> My copy. Promo I bought used. Excellent condition.
> Atom Heart - VSVN 2x12" $14
> Swamp Terrorists - Get O. EP (2-CD/import) $13

The SWAMP TERRORISTS double-cd features two really great LB mixes by
the way.

Hi Everyone

I'm just testing out our new home at hyperreal. Yes, the much-anticipated
move of the mother mailing list from nicar.org to hyperreal.org is
underway! If this works, then all further posts sent to mother@nicar.org
will be redirected to mother@hyperreal.org.

I just also realize that mother is the name of the computer on the Nostramo
vessel in Alien. When I was a kid, seeing that helmet/head thing coming
out of the computer with all the text from the monitor reflecting off it's
faceshield freaked me out....kinda like the mother list sometimes ;)
