Subject: Re: (atom) Why start at -023?

Yeah, the significance of 23 has been something that's been niggling away
at my mind for some time but no-one, including posters here (though the
tracing of its journey through C20 culture was interesting), can tell me
exactly what it stands for.

My theory, based on rather simple geometry, is that it has some thing to
with coils, assuming that its significance derives from just as much from
the juxtaposition of the numerals 2 and 3 (which goes to show the
limitations of numerology in that such a significance would be possible
only with our set of numerals) as the fact that it's a prime number.
hmm...

Am I on the right track or am I talking crap (as usual)? Unfortunately I
haven't had much time these days to visit the library lately.

ob uwe: My friends _love_ Señor Coconut. It is drum and bass and the latin
stuff is not cheesy, it stands in the place of the amen break. Hopefully
I'll get it back from them one of these days...

Also, the other night I was listening to E2-E4 (it gets a bit boring in
parts but it's growing on me - good for the occasional bout of insomnia)
and it struck me that maybe the influence of this album might explain the
'jazzy' flavourings of the recent Jet Chamber(s). Just a thought (see
above, paragraph 3 :^j ).

Hi, everyone. I noted yesterday a considerable amount of Rather
Interesting label titles available at my local shop. I copied the catalog
numbers to save time, and here they are:

_RI_:

25
30
31
32
34
35
37
43

If anyone can point me to a listing of these discs I would appreciate it.
Also, I would be willing to pick up any of these for someone, if asked.
The shop (OHM records in Seattle) also has a smattering of about 25 old FAX
titles, like Zenith, UVOII, Putney, Xjacks, etc. Prices were about $17+t
for these titles.

Jet Chamber IV
(Pete Namlook & Atom Heart)

Atom Heart flew from Chile to Germany to record the follow-up album to the
successful Jet Chamber III. This time it is a haunting and deep fusion of
Drums & More, Jazz and intercontinental Ambient. While Heart is at his
best with polyrhythmic innovative drumming Namlook takes care of the bass
and solos on synth and guitar. With combined force they use and treat "Very
Clever Electronics" and set the standards a bit higher in Electronic Fusion
Music. Once again, most of the sessions were performed live at the new
studio of Pete Namlook and are incredibly fresh sounding entities that
combine the power of these two most prolific musicians of our day. Take a
seat in the first class compartment and listen to some new equations in the
mathematics of Electronic Fusion Music.

If so, I'm glad I waited for the domestic copy! (Comes out March 31st,

Earcloud <The World Before> (Geometrik) - the almost always excellent
Victor Sol (of Aerial Service Area, +N, Solphax, Gate/Sol, etc.)
collaborates with Alex Martin, Charles Gate, and even Atom Heart to produce
a beautifully varied electronic travellogue of sweeping filters, digitized
voices, funky (and never pounding) beats, and even the occasional catchy
melody, reminding me both of Reload and YMO at times.

Well.

It's been quite a while since the last giveaway, so I thought I'd have
one now being that the list has been soooo quiet lately. The theme of this
giveaway is "Name Uwe & Lisa's Daughter Contest". As you may have noticed
at the very end of the `Del Haze entertainment' newsletter for March, Senor
Schmidt requested:

"We are searching for names for a little girl
to be born in 2 months. Got any ideas?"

For those interested in participating, please e-mail me directly (and
*not* to the list itself) any and all interesting ideas of a name for a
soon-to-be-born little girl. I will then compile all of these name ideas
and forward them to Uwe himself. This is just for fun, yet could possibly
help in the process of naming Uwe's and Lisa's daughter.

From all of the participants in the contest, I will [randomly] draw
one name/address to win a cd I am giving away (postage paid anywhere in the
world). This cd will be a promotional copy of the (Japanese-only) Daisy
World compilation from 1996 entitled "Daisy World Tour A Sound Odyssey Of
Daisy Creatures", which features several AH/related tracks including an
exclusive Atom Heart song called "Overcome The Programming".

This contest will end on Friday the 3rd. Gracias chimpadres. ;}
