Bobbi, the owner of Cafe Soundz is very helpful. He carries many import labels
such as R & S, Warp, Rephlex and others. He also carries a large assortment of
magazines, clothes, and vinyl. The only drawback is that Industrial titles are mixed in
the with techno/ambient titles. Plus, the CD's are stacked up on a tall wall, and it's
hard to read the titles on the top row. Prices are high, but you can find gems there if
you look hard enough.

Worth the train ride over from the city. Spike Simchock and the boyz at planet
X will fix you up. Good vinyl selection, leaning towards house and breaks, but good
detroit and european releases as well. Good import CD selection, getting many IDM releases
relatively early. Expensive, but not much more than imports at a lot of other places. Good
selection of clothes, magazines, tickets for events. Even have their own game room.

This store is definitely worth a visit for underground music. "The Digital
Deviants" specialize in imported techno & carry everything from progressive house
& trance to acid & hardcore including a large selection of house & hip-hop but
little to no breakbeat. They do excellent mail order service & are always timely. They
carry a large selection that goes quick but feel free to order anything & they will
definitely have lots of other stuff for you to check out while you're there. They carry a
decent selection of CDs. Listening options are through the DJs or the two 1200s for vinyl
and a CD player near the register. Look for an great zine called "Base 10" which
is mostly record reviews and interviews which comes out sporadically. They also have
clothes & other DJ supplies. The new space is huge and includes a pool table, video
games, etc. Check it out!. NJ Transit train from Penn Station to New Brunswick drops you
off a block away.

The best vinyl/cd shop in central NJ for most any kind of music. Great
selection of used stuff too. Lots of bargans. Obscure independent labels like Fax.
Collections bought and set out for sale asap. I've found things that I never thouht I'd
find here. NJ Transit trains & busses to Princeton and/or Princeton University. Tulane
St. intersects Rt. 27. Princeton is just off Rt. 1. 1 1/2 hr train ride from NY, you won't
mind the trip when you check this place out. No kidding! 3/23/1996
